Students and Education

If you are a student dealing with discrimination, facing unfair discipline, or otherwise being mistreated by the university, college, or high school you attend, do not hesitate to contact me.

School is tough enough as it is, but if you are not part of the “woke” majority, it is downright oppressive. Students often feel as though they have no recourse when their rights are being violated. After all, lawyers are expensive and what independent lawyer regularly represents students?

I have represented students denied the right to free expression on campus and students facing discipline for refusing to act contrary to their religious beliefs and convictions. For example, I was honoured to defend Josh Alexander against punishment for expressing his Christian beliefs and protecting female students, actions which resulted in his unjust exclusion from his high school.

I also acted on behalf of dozens of students across the country who refused COVID vaccination and were unjustly kicked out of classes or excluded from campus, including successfully obtaining religious exemptions for some, such as a group of students at the University of Calgary who were initially denied their religious exemption requests until they hired me. I helped one particular student graduate from the University of Alberta’s dental program despite his religious inability to vaccinate.

If you are a student dealing with discrimination, facing unfair discipline, or otherwise being mistreated by the university, college, or high school you attend, do not hesitate to contact me. I will strategize with you and we will plan a tack that fits your budget. Parents of students are welcome to reach out as well. I have experience working with both students and their parents to achieve the desired outcome.

I also have experience working with teachers and school board trustees. I am acting on behalf of Alberta school board trustee Monique LaGrange in her challenge to the decision of the Red Deer Catholic school board to disqualify her as a trustee. You can read more about her case and the support of The Democracy Fund here.

Testimonial

“As a university student, I was initially apprehensive about acquiring legal counsel. In the process of searching for a good lawyer, I came across Mr. Kitchen and learned that he had successfully represented others for a similar problem.

I decided to reach out to Mr. Kitchen and after speaking with him, I felt reassured that he would represent me well. Mr. Kitchen was approachable, knowledgeable, had phenomenal character, and was willing to answer all my questions. I knew that I had found the right lawyer.

The legal process was much smoother than I had anticipated, and I was very pleased with the outcome of my case. I would strongly recommend Mr. Kitchen to anyone looking for an exceptional lawyer. You will not regret it.”
